Electrical Thermography
Brisbane to Sunshine Coast
We reduce the risk of fire and breakdowns using electrical thermography and switchboard thermal imaging in Brisbane and the Moreton Bay region.
What is electrical thermography?
Electrical Thermography uses thermal imaging to detect and visualise temperature differences and irregularities in switchboards, electrical wiring and components.
Using a thermal imaging scanner, our technicians can see and identify high-temperature zones known as “hot spots”.
If issues are detected, the technician can suggest and implement corrective action before any real danger presents itself, or before an electrical breakdown occurs.
Why you should invest in switchboard thermal imaging
Switchboard thermal imaging can be used to aid in the early detection and prevention of equipment failure, which can benefit you in the following ways:
- You can reduce costs by minimising downtime and avoiding expensive repairs should a failure occur.
- It’s a fast and reliable detection method without needing to disassemble or disable equipment.
- It reduces the risk of fire by detecting high-temperature anomalies, allowing corrective action to be taken before a fault occurs.
Thermal Imaging Enquiry
When should switchboards and electrical equipment be thermally imaged?
If your business relies on electricity, your switchboards and electrical equipment should be scanned at regular intervals by a qualified electrician using thermal imaging equipment.
Prior to failure, many electrical items usually overheat. It’s this increase in temperature that can be thermally imaged and identified before imminent failure occurs.
Thermal imaging of switch boards can identify the following concerns:
- Faulty or damaged RCDs and switches,
- Electrical load imbalances,
- Loose or damaged connections,
- Failed fuses,
- Overloaded circuits.
Should switchboard scanning be part of our electrical maintenance schedule?
Absolutely. As the saying goes, “prevention is better than cure”, and this is especially true when it comes to electrical safety and the ongoing operation of your business.
Routine scanning of your switchboards and equipment can be integrated into your maintenance program and will provide you with:
- a report detailing the items inspected,
- details regarding any concerns or issues presented,
- the severity of any detected issues,
- a report of the measured observations,
- suggestions as to the recommended corrective actions, should any be required.
