Testing and tagging your electrical equipment is an occupational health and safety requirement. It is important to ensure the safety of both your employees and visitors to your workplace.

Failure to have your electrical equipment tested and tagged by an authorised person can result in fines being imposed or worse, the potential harm of anyone using the equipment.

What is Testing and Tagging?

Testing and tagging ensures your appliances and equipment are electrically sound and safe to use. Having your electrical appliance, equipment and leads regularly tested and tagged can identify safety issues before they become serious or life-threatening.

The test and tag process involves both visual inspection of the equipment, its electrical cord and plug, and electrical testing using a Portable Appliance Tester.

Whilst you can visually inspect your electrical cords and plugs to determine if they are damaged, testing and tagging can only be performed by an authorised person, such as a QMS Electrical Technician.
